For many species, teamwork is essential to triumph in Nature. The same can be true in structural engineering. The new National Soccer Development Centre is an example. This project was a “co-production” between UBC and the Vancouver Whitecaps. It was built as a purposeful, functional space on a tight budget. To accomplish this, and minimize costs, we had to find ways to make the interior layouts work, while still installing structural necessities such as shear walls. So we presented a number of possible options to the teams involved and worked together to find the best solution. The finished building is considered a success by all parties.

ants - with proper collaboration every good team can achieve difficult goals.
