The new Kamloops Cancer Centre will serve as a major healthcare hub for residents across the Thompson-Cariboo-Shuswap region, improving access to life-saving cancer treatment closer to home. Located at the Royal Inland Hospital’s Westlands site in Kamloops, the facility is expected to accommodate 7,500 consults and follow-up appointments annually.

Key features of the Kamloops Cancer Centre include:

  • Radiation therapy planning, including a CT simulator
  • Diagnostic MRI
  • Chemotherapy treatment
  • Radiation treatment in shielded rooms equipped with three high-energy linear accelerators (LINACs)
  • An outpatient ambulatory care unit with exam and consult rooms
  • A multi-faith sacred space for patients, caregivers, and staff
  • Staff support areas, including offices and workstations
  • A new 470-stall parkade
  • Upgrades to the existing community oncology clinic and pharmacy, expected by 2029

The new facility is scheduled to open in 2028 and will be operated by BC Cancer in partnership with Interior Health. EllisDon is leading construction, and Glotman Simpson is proud to serve as the structural engineer on this important project.
