The Rolston

Vancouver B.C. ● Featured

Situated in one of the last heritage properties in the downtown Vancouver core, the 187 suite Rolston incorporates innovative design features and dynamic heritage revitalization.

The development of the Rolston also allowed for the restoration of the neighbouring 1889 Yale Hotel, including a full restoration of the 2nd and 3rd floors and extensive restoration of the Yale Pub. This seismic upgrade progressed while the lower tower excavation descended down next door, then ascended up and past the height of the hotel.

The Rolston’s 5-floor residential garage extends down below the depth of the adjacent hotel. Careful underpinning avoids intruding on its rubble stone foundations and brittle construction. The project also features two common rooftop decks: one on the 16th floor called the Terrace, with tables, chairs and an outdoor bar; and one on the rooftop called The Gardens, complete with dining facilities, a yoga studio, community garden spaces, and panoramic views.

The Rolston is built to LEED Gold equivalency and was completed December 2013.
