The upgrade of St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School saw an improvement of facilities and an increase student capacity in 2018. With the old building being determined seismically unsafe, the new 4-storey , concrete St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary school was constructed in three phases; phase one saw the rebuild of the gym, classrooms and office; this was followed by a renovation of the convent; and lastly the old school was demolished and replaced by a sports field and track. A well-considered program, design, and construction strategy were essential to enable a functional campus during construction.
