Originally built in 1981 when indoor shopping was the norm, the redevelopment of Deerfoot Mall will see the existing 623,000 SF mall undergo a major transformation, in multiple phases, to a 1.3 million square feet of shopping, dining and office space development. This rare opportunity to redevelop urban land into retail space will also incorporate the vacant fields to the south, offering an enlarged area that supports the development of multiple districts.
At the centre of the redevelopment, is a pedestrian-friendly network of open-air streets and plazas intertwined with indoor comforts. The vibrant destination offers a full spectrum of retail, restaurants and services onto one site; Deerfoot City will be comprised of retail (Fashion Row), which cuts through the heart of the development, capping off with an assortment of restaurants and patios (Restaurant Row) at the Central Plaza. Anchor tenants include Walmart, Sport Check and new tenant Cabela’s, with plans for a new 70,000 SF store.
Ideally located at the corner of Deerfoot Trail and 64th Avenue NE, the site is within easy access to the Calgary International Airport and is within a trade area of 900,000 people within a 20 minute drive. The site also sees 160,000 vehicles pass by daily. The entire project is scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2017.
