The Cross Roads Development is a mixed-use building with 3 levels of below grade parking, located between 8th Avenue and Broadway along Cambie Street in Vancouver. Due to its size (310,000 square feet), street frontages (140,000 square feet of retail), sloping topography and ready transit access, the site is ideally suited to a mix of uses.
The project houses Whole Foods and London Drugs; commercial retail units; one 7 storey tower with 80,000 square feet of office space; one 8 storey residential tower containing 88 homes, including 8 two-storey townhomes; and a 200,000 square foot underground parkade. Located at a major transit node that accommodates stations for the Canada and Millennium Skytrain lines, Cross Roads is also the new home of Lululemon Athletica. Their corporate headquarters covers four and a half floors for their 300 employees, in studio-based offices and state-of-the-art production facilities.
The diversity of the project, along with restrictions in zoning and development, made the Cross Roads development a challenge architecturally as well as from a structural design perspective. Despite these challenges, the project was completed ahead of schedule.
