Glotman Simpson Cypress Challenge - BC Cancer Foundation

On Sunday July 30, 2023, the 16th Annual Capilano Volkswagen Cypress Challenge will be taking place, organized by the Glotman Simpson Cycling Club.

In 2022, approximately 500 cyclists took part in this event in support of the BC Cancer Foundation and pancreatic cancer research. The Cypress Challenge is the largest privately funded fundraiser event for pancreatic cancer across Canada and is also the largest community event for BC Cancer. By taking part in this climb, the funds raised will be matched by the generosity of the Hager family.

The dedication to raise funds to help find a cure for pancreatic cancer was inspired by Geoffrey Glotman, who was looking to find a way to give back to the community in honour of his mother-in-law. The Cypress Challenge was established to help raise awareness and help raise funds for research to help improve the outcomes of the nearly 800 people in BC diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is difficult to detect in early stages, which is why raising funds to help with research efforts is crucial to help improve the outcomes of those diagnosed.
