Glotman•Simpson located at 1661 West 5th Avenue, Vancouver BC, is currently looking for an Assistant Project Coordinator to join our dynamic Vancouver, BC team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The Assistant Project Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all construction administration (“CA”) responsibilities for projects in the CA phase are completed on time, and to a high standard of quality. The Assistant Project Coordinator works closely with the Project Engineers and CA Field Engineers to compile, edit and respond to Requests for Information (RFI’s) and Structural Site Instructions (SSI’s). Occasionally, site visits will be required to support Field Engineers with workloads, and to collect information to help with design confirmation/RFI responses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinating specific documentation during construction;
- Assisting Project Engineers during the construction phase of projects;
- Reviewing shop drawings;
- Reviewing contactor requests and RFI’s (working with Project Engineers and drafting staff to develop project solutions and prepare appropriate documentation such as Site Instructions, etc.);
- Assisting Field Engineers periodically as may be required to conduct site reviews and structural observations on various building projects throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland;
- Analyzing applicable reports, testing data and related documentation;
- Preparing appropriate Construction Phase documentation; and,
- Assisting with project coordination between engineering design and field review staff.
Knowledge, Qualification and Abilities:
- Civil Technology Diploma or Degree or in a closely related discipline is required;
- Minimum of 3 years working experience;
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, in order to deal effectively with staff, clients and construction site personnel;
- Maturity, confidence and multi-tasking skills;
- An outgoing, hardworking and positive attitude;
- Good computer skills including AutoCAD and REVIT being a definite asset; and,
- Previous experience working with general contractors is a positive asset.
Salary and Benefits
Our firm offers an attractive total compensation plan; in this position you can expect an hour wage of $36.60 based on a 37.5 hour work week, in addition to an extended healthcare (with vision care), dental, long term disability, life insurance and 3 weeks’ vacation.
