Mel O’Keeffe, a former Principal at Glotman•Simpson, is a senior engineer with 30 years of structural design experience including design in reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, structural steel, wood-frame, and heavy timber. Although no longer with our firm day-to-day, Mel is now Managing Principal of GS Sayers. He remains closely connected to our team and provides his expertise in a range of capacities including consulting on residential, commercial, and institutional building projects throughout British Columbia, encompassing most structural forms and building materials.

Mel’s expertise in building projects has included health care facilities, office buildings, multi-storey residential housing, steel structures, tilt-up warehouses, renovations, and structural upgrades including seismic retrofit projects and he has also participated in numerous building evaluation assignments ranging from due-diligence assessment reports to forensic engineering and litigation support for the insurance and legal professions on a variety of claims. Additionally, Mel has been involved in all facets of P3 and Design/Build procurements from initial RFQ, through to RFP pursuit and project design and construction.

Mel’s focused involvement within the operations of Glotman•Simpson has been instrumental in the firm’s success. Amongst numerous other achievements, Mel’s extraordinary leadership and project management skills led to the acquisition of Sayers Engineering Ltd., which now operates as GS Sayers Engineering Ltd., where he is the Managing Principal and invaluable to daily operations.
