Nature searches for the simplest solution possible. Glotman•Simpson took the same approach with Strathcona Village – a key piece in the revitalization of Vancouver’s East Hastings area. The project’s unique mix of residential, non-market, retail, and light industrial space over below grade parking, brings together disparate components. To control project costs, the goal was to have only one load transfer level for all uses. In addition, the column grid and structural design had to marry together four different elements in what is technically one building. The end result is an efficient and affordable solutions.
