Westerleigh Retirement Residence is a 212,000 SF described for its residents as ‘more than a place to live, it’s a place to belong and thrive”.
Most residential suites feature ocean or mountain views with private balconies. The Residence features a wide range of amenities and features such as a fitness centre with garden views, a private piano room, a spa, a games’ room, a theatre for live performances and room for wine connoisseurs featuring private wine lockers.
Aiming for LEED Gold equivalency, the project used thermally isolated balcony and concrete exterior isolation devices to prevent heat loss or cold bridging at slab edges and rooftops. This allows for better building insulation and thermal performance, as well as enhanced thermal comfort.
A portion of the Westerleigh will also house two new amenities for the area: Eldercare classes through Capilano University, accessible through the Marine Drive building front and a cafe, directly adjacent to the classrooms.
